Are you being YOU?

May 14, 2024

I'm curious - have you ever thought about what attracts you to a particular brand?

What makes you want to interact with a business?

What makes you want to support a company or brand?

According to a recent study by Stackla, 86% of consumers say authenticity is key when deciding what brands they like and support.

Your personal brand is no different. Whether you're a solopreneur, mompreneur, or work in the corporate space, you are your own personal brand. Your audience is buying YOU, and they want to see the real, authentic you. They don't want a watered-down version of someone else. Your personal brand is like a fingerprint – unique, distinct and individual.

Here's the problem – We live in a world filled with constant comparison.  Is it possible that the pressure to be like everyone else may cause you to slip into fear of judgment and morph into a more inauthentic version of yourself?

In a world where Instagram and Snapchat filters can make you feel and look like someone else, and where influencers and advertisers seem to set impossible standards, how do you stand out without losing yourself?

What I have discovered is that your audience wants the real you. Real resonates. They want your energy, your uniqueness, your individuality.

You may be wondering - how do I create a strong personal brand? Here's the simple answer that I have found - BE YOU.  No one else on this planet is you. And that can be your superpower!

Success Tips:

Here's a simple yet powerful exercise to assist you in defining & crafting your personal brand.

Ask yourself this question - If I was a brand how would I describe myself in 3 words? For example - If you were describing Disney, you might say magical, family-friendly, iconic.

What would your 3 words be to describe your personal brand? Approachable, knowledgeable, kind? Inspiring, stylish, faithful? Resilient, creative, collaborative? Driven, innovative, passionate?

Spend a few minutes reflecting on your 3 words and writing them down. You may also consider asking a trusted friend or family member to do the same exercise in describing you as a brand. This is a great way to get insight into whether how you see yourself is in alignment with how others perceive you.

Remember - you get to decide how you show up in the world.  And it’s never too late to begin showing up in a more authentic way.

Your personal brand is a reflection of your individuality. Don't follow the trends; set them with your authenticity.
