Halfway Point: Time to Review and Renew

Jul 14, 2024

I'm curious – how has the first half of 2024 been for you? What achievements are you proud of? What areas do you feel need more attention and improvement?

Imagine for a moment the year as a long road trip. The halfway point is like a rest stop where you can check your map, refuel, and make sure you're still heading in the right direction. If you've taken a few wrong turns, now is the time to get back on track and ensure you reach your destination successfully!

It would be easy to look at the calendar and passively dismiss this important half-way marker OR you can use it as an important reminder and incentive to finish your year strong. It's the ideal moment to reimagine what the rest of the year could look like.

"It’s never too late to be what you might have been." – George Eliot

According to a study by the American Psychological Association, setting mid-year goals significantly increases the likelihood of achieving them. Reflecting on your progress can help you identify what’s working and what needs adjustment. Additionally, a survey by Gallup found that individuals who regularly set and review their goals are 42% more likely to achieve them.

Here's the problem – it can be easy to get off track, feel stuck, or even start settling. Some people are already making up the stories they will tell at the end of the year as to why they didn’t achieve their targets. As soon as you do that, is it possible you lose sight of, and the momentum for, reaching your target by giving energy to the story?  After all, what you focus on expands.

Success Strategy:

Celebrate Progress: Acknowledge and celebrate the achievements and progress you've made so far.  Big and small wins are all wins!

Identify Challenges: Reflect on the areas where you got off track or felt stuck.  Why did you get stuck?

Reset Goals: Revisit your goals and make necessary adjustments to align with your vision and current priorities.

Create an Action Plan: Break down your revised goals into smaller, manageable tasks.

Stay Accountable: Share your mid-year goals with a friend, coach or mentor who can help keep you accountable and support you with a roadmap.  Did you know that having an accountability partner makes you 65% more likely to meet your goals.

With a clear vision, focused action and accountability, the next six months can be incredibly productive AND just like compounded interest, the adjustments and commitments you make now will significantly contribute to the trajectory and outcomes you achieve both now and in your future!

Remember, living your AND means balancing all aspects of your life—your career, personal growth, relationships, and more. Each decision you make has a ripple effect, impacting not only your year but your long-term success and happiness.

But here's the good news! You still have half of the year left to make incredible progress!

You may be wondering, how can you make the most of the next six months? Here are some strategies to help you stay on track.
